A bill to amend 1978 PA 485, entitled "An act to permit the creation of a county officers compensation commission; and to prescribe the powers and duties of the commis- sion and other public officers," by amending sections 1 and 3 (MCL 45.471 and 45.473). THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 1. (1)ASUBJECT TO SECTION 3, A county board of 2 commissioners may establish a county officers compensation com- 3 mission to determine the compensation forthe1 OR BOTH OF THE 4 FOLLOWING: 5 (A) THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS. 6 (B) ALL OTHER nonjudicial elected officials of the county. 7 (2) A resolution establishing a county officers compensation 8 commission shall comply with the requirements of this act. 9 Sec. 3. The county officers compensation commission shall 10 determine the compensation of the elected officials of the county 03137'97 TLG 2 1,IDENTIFIED IN THE RESOLUTION ADOPTED UNDER SECTION 1 other 2 than judges, which determination shall be the compensation of 3 those officials unless the county board of commissioners rejects 4 the determination by resolution adopted by 2/3 of the members 5 elected to and serving on the board. Unless rejected, the deter- 6 mination shall be effective at the beginning of the first odd 7 numbered year after the determination is made. If the determina- 8 tion is rejected, the compensation then in effect for those offi- 9 cials shall continue. An expense allowance or reimbursement paid 10 to elected officials in addition to salary shall be for expenses 11 incurred in the course of county business and accounted for to 12 the county. 13 Enacting section 1.
