A bill to permit certain state employees to be granted leave from work under certain conditions. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 1. (1) A state employee who is a certified disaster 2 service volunteer of the American red cross may be granted leave 3 from work with pay for not to exceed 30 work days in each year to 4 participate in specialized disaster relief services for the 5 American red cross, upon the request of the American red cross 6 for the services of that employee and upon approval of the agency 7 that employs the employee. 8 (2) An employee granted leave under this section shall be 9 compensated at his or her regular rate of pay for those regular 10 work hours during which the employee is absent from work and 11 shall not lose vacation leave, sick leave, or other fringe 12 benefits except as otherwise provided in this section. 00980'97 DMS 2 1 (3) An employee is not eligible for worker's compensation 2 benefits for injuries sustained during leave allowed under sub- 3 section (1). 00980'97 Final page.
