A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending section 43513 (MCL 324.43513), as amended by 1996 PA 585, and by adding section 504a. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 SEC. 504A. AT A DESIGNATED SHOOTING RANGE ON LAND UNDER THE 2 CONTROL OF THE DEPARTMENT, A PERSON MAY USE A FIREARM LOADED WITH 3 ANY NUMBER OF ROUNDS NOT EXCEEDING CAPACITY UNDER MANUFACTURER'S 4 SPECIFICATIONS AND MAY DISCHARGE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION ANY OR ALL 5 OF THE ROUNDS IN THE FIREARM. 6 Sec. 43513. (1) A person may carry, transport, or possess a 7 firearm, a bow and arrow, or a crossbow without a hunting license 8 while at or going to and from a recognized rifle or target range, 9 trap, or skeet shooting ground, or archery range if the firearm 04669'97 TMV 2 1 or bow and arrow or crossbow, while being carried or transported, 2 is as follows: 3 (a) The firearm is unloaded in both barrel and magazine and 4 either enclosed in a case or carried in the trunk of a vehicle. 5 (b) The bow or crossbow is unstrung, enclosed in a case, or 6 carried in the trunk of a vehicle. 7 (2) IF A PERSON IS NOT TAKING OR ATTEMPTING TO TAKE GAME AND 8 IS ON PROPERTY THAT HE OR SHE OWNS OR LEASES, THEN, REGARDLESS OF 9 WHETHER THE PERSON HAS A LICENSE OR IT IS A SEASON THAT IS OPEN 10 FOR THE TAKING OF GAME, THE PERSON MAY CARRY, TRANSPORT, POSSESS, 11 OR DISCHARGE A FIREARM, A BOW AND ARROW, OR A CROSSBOW WHILE THE 12 PERSON IS ENGAGED IN TARGET PRACTICE OR PRACTICE WITH SILHOU- 13 ETTES, SKEET, OR TRAP OR IS SIGHTING A FIREARM. 04669'97 Final page.
