A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4059 AS INTRODUCED 1-28-99

House Bill 4059 would amend the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA) to increase jurisdictional amount for cases involving the seizure of property under NREPA. More specifically, a determination on whether property seized under the act could be confiscated would be heard in a district court if the property was appraised at an amount of $25,000 or less. This is an increase from the $10,000 limit under current law.

In addition, the bill would eliminate a provision establishing jurisdiction for the now abolished common pleas court of the city of Detroit.
