A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4221 AS INTRODUCED 2-9-99

Currently, the Michigan Election Law requires that a petition for the recall of an elected official, among other things, state clearly each reason for the recall, where each reason for the recall must be based on the official's conduct during his or her current term of office.

The bill would amend the act to require that each reason for the recall of an elected official be specifically for reasons of misfeasance, malfeasance, or nonfeasance in office.
