A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4628 AS INTRODUCED 5-4-99
House Bill 4628 would amend the act concerning township planning commissions to revise the public notice requirements for the hearing date of the township land use plan. The bill would require that the planning commission give notice of the hearing by two publications in a newspaper of general circulation in the township. The first notice would have to appear not more than 30 or less than 20 days before the hearing date, and the second notice not more than 8 days before the hearing date.
Under current law, the planning commission is required to hold at least one public hearing on its land use plan. The law requires that thirty days' notice of the public hearing be given by two publications at least two weeks apart and not less than seven days before the hearing in a newspaper having a general circulation in the township.
