A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5221 AS INTRODUCED 1-12-00

The bill would amend the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, which regulates the Detroit casinos authorized by Proposal E of 1996, to require the public disclosure of the average odds of winning at each gambling game and also of a casino licensee's total revenue from gambling. Under the bill, within 30 days after the end of each fiscal year, each casino licensee would have to report to the Michigan Gaming Control Board the total revenue from the gambling operation and the average odds of winning each gambling game that the licensee offers in its gambling operation. Currently, the board is required to provide certain information about casino licensees to any person upon request. The information required by the bill would have to be included in the list of information that the board must make available to the public.
