CONTENT
The bill would amend the Michigan Campaign Finance Act to repeal Section 49 of the Act, which allows an elected public official to establish an officeholder expense fund (OEF); prohibits the establishment of an OEF after 1994; prohibits contributions to existing OEFs after 1994; and prescribes the methods by which unspent funds in an OEF had to be disbursed by January 1, 1996.

FISCAL IMPACT
The repeal of Section 49 of the Michigan Campaign Finance Act could result in a loss of revenue to the State associated with the enforcement of certain penalty provisions. The actual revenue loss would depend on the number and amounts of fines that would have been assessed under the provisions of the Act. Therefore, the fiscal impact of this bill is indeterminate. There would be no fiscal impact on local government.
