FIREARM FORFEITURE - H.B. 4534: FLOOR ANALYSIS

CONTENT
The bill would amend the Michigan Penal Code to provide that a concealed pistol carried in violation of the Code by a licensed individual would be subject to seizure and forfeiture. An illegally altered pistol, weapon, or device would have to be disposed of in a manner prescribed by the Director of the Department of State Police. A legal pistol, weapon, or device would have to be forwarded to the Director of the Department of Management and Budget for auction in accordance with law.
The bill would take effect September 30, 1999, and is tie-barred to House Bill 4530, which among other things, would revise application requirements for applying for a license to carry a concealed pistol, and require a concealed pistol licensing board to issue a license if the requirements were met.
