A bill to supplement appropriations for the department of education for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2000; to provide for the expen- diture of the appropriation; and to prescribe certain conditions for the appropriation. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 PART 1 2 LINE-ITEM APPROPRIATIONS 3 Sec. 101. There is appropriated for the department of education to 4 supplement former appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 5 2000, from the following funds: 6 GROSS APPROPRIATION.................................. $ 50,000 7 Appropriated from: 8 State general fund/general purpose................... $ 50,000 05478'99 SAT 2 1 PART 2 2 PROVISIONS CONCERNING APPROPRIATIONS 3 Sec. 201. Pursuant to section 30 of article IX of the state consti- 4 tution of 1963, total state spending under part 1 for fiscal year 5 1999-2000 is $50,000.00. State payments to local units of government 6 under this act are $0.00. 7 Sec. 202. The appropriation made and the expenditure authorized 8 under this act and the departments, agencies, commissions, boards, 9 offices, and programs for which an appropriation is made under this act 10 are subject to the management and budget act, 1984 PA 431, MCL 18.1101 to 11 18.1594. 12 Sec. 301. The funds appropriated under this act shall be expended 13 to create a toll-free hotline through the collaboration of the department 14 of education with the department of state police that will operate 7 days 15 per week, 24 hours per day. The toll-free hotline shall provide stu- 16 dents, school officials, and other individuals an opportunity to report 17 specific threats of imminent school violence or to report other suspi- 18 cious or criminal conduct by juveniles to appropriate state and local law 19 enforcement entities for investigation.05478'99 Final page.
