HOUSE BILL No. 5264


     February 2, 2000, Introduced by Reps. Bradstreet and Sheltrown and referred to the Committee on Transportation.


        A bill to designate the part of highway M-33 located in

   Ogemaw and Oscoda counties between Houghton Creek road and Miller

   road as the "Veterans' Memorial Highway"; and to prescribe the

   duties of the state transportation department.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

           Sec. 1.  The part of highway M-33 located in Ogemaw and

 2
      Oscoda counties between Houghton Creek road and Miller road shall

 3
      be known as the "Veterans' Memorial Highway".

           Sec. 2.  The state transportation department shall only pro-

 5
      vide for the erection of suitable markers at the approach of the

 6
      part of the highway described in section 1 indicating the name of

 7
      that part of the highway when 1 or both of the following occur:

 8
           (a) The department erects new signage to replace old signage

 9
      in the course of ordinary maintenance.

           (b) Sufficient private contributions are received to pay the
