AN ACT to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "An act to protect the environment and natural resources of the state; to codify, revise, consolidate, and classify laws relating to the environment and natural resources of the state; to regulate the discharge of certain substances into the environment; to regulate the use of certain lands, waters, and other natural resources of the state; to prescribe the powers and duties of certain state and local agencies and officials; to provide for certain charges, fees, and assessments; to provide certain appropriations; to prescribe penalties and provide remedies; to repeal certain parts of this act on a specific date; and to repeal certain acts and parts of acts," by amending section 48726 (MCL 324.48726), as added by 1995 PA 57.
The People of the State of Michigan enact:
Sec. 48726. Notwithstanding any other provision of this act, the department may adopt fishing orders as it considers necessary for the harvest of coho salmon and chinook salmon on the Great Lakes and their connecting waters. Notwithstanding section 48703, the department may adopt fishing orders increasing the number of rods, lines, and hooks that may be used for the harvest of salmon and trout, including coho salmon, chinook salmon, pink salmon, Atlantic salmon, lake trout, brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, and splake, on the Great Lakes and their connecting waters. The department shall have the authority to decrease the number of rods per angler. However, the department shall not reduce the number of rods per angler to less than 2. The adoption of an order under this section is subject to the notice and other procedural requirements of section 41103.
This act is ordered to take immediate effect.
