A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4651 AS INTRODUCED 4-24-01
House Bill 4651 would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to allow the surviving spouse or current spouse of a prisoner of war to obtain a special "ex-POW" license plate. Currently, only an ex-prisoner of war, who shows proper documentation, may obtain the special license plate. In addition, the bill would remove the $5 application fee and renewal fee for the following special license plates: "ex-prisoner of war", "World War I veteran", "Pearl Harbor survivor", and "combat wounded veteran" (purple heart recipient).
