A REVISED SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5523 AS INTRODUCED 12-13-01
Public Act 51 of 1951, which governs how transportation funds are distributed in the state, defines an "eligible authority" as an authority organized under the Metropolitan Transportation Authorities Act of 1967. That act would be repealed if House Bill 5467 of the 2001-2002 legislative session is enacted into law. House Bill 5467 proposes to create a replacement authority known as the Detroit Area Regional Transportation Authority (DARTA). House Bill 5523 would amend Public Act 51 of 1951 to define an eligible authority as an authority organized pursuant to the Metropolitan Transportation Authorities Act of 1967 or an authority organized or continued under the Detroit Area Regional Transportation Authority Act. House Bill 5523 would only take effect if House Bill 5467 was enacted into law.
