A bill to amend 1931 PA 214, entitled "An act to enact a law to define the offense of felonious driv- ing, when committed by the operation of a vehicle and to pre- scribe penalties therefor," by amending section 1 (MCL 752.191). THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 1. Every A person who drives any OPERATES A vehi- 2 cle upon a highway OR OTHER PLACE OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC OR 3 GENERALLY ACCESSIBLE TO MOTOR VEHICLES, INCLUDING AN AREA DESIG- 4 NATED FOR THE PARKING OF VEHICLES, carelessly and heedlessly in 5 wilful WILLFUL and wanton disregard of the rights or safety of 6 others, or without due caution and circumspection and at a speed 7 or in a manner so as to endanger THAT ENDANGERS or be IS 8 likely to endanger any person or property and thereby injuring 9 so as to cripple RESULTING IN AN INJURY THAT CRIPPLES any 10 person, but DOES not causing CAUSE death, shall be IS guilty 02606'01 TVD 2 1 of the offense of felonious driving and upon conviction 2 thereof shall be sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding 1,000 dol- 3 lars or to imprisonment in the state prison not exceeding 2 years 4 or by both fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the court 5 PUNISHABLE BY IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT MORE THAN 2 YEARS OR A FINE OF 6 NOT MORE THAN $1,000.00, OR BOTH. 02606'01 Final page.
