        A bill to amend 1978 PA 59, entitled

   "Condominium act,"

   by amending section 141 (MCL 559.241), as amended by 1980 PA

   513.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

           Sec. 141.  (1) A condominium project shall comply with

 2
      applicable local law, ordinances, and regulations.  Except as

 3
      provided in subsection (2), a proposed or existing condominium

 4
      project shall not be prohibited  nor  OR treated differently by

 5
       any  A law, regulation, or ordinance of  any  A local unit of

 6
      government  , which  THAT would apply to that  project or 
   devel-

 7
      opment under a different form of ownership.

           (2) Except  as to  FOR a city having a population of more

 9
      than  1 million  750,000 persons, a local unit of government is

      preempted by  the provisions of  this act from enacting a law,

      regulation, ordinance, or other provision  , which  THAT imposes

 2
      a moratorium on conversion condominiums, or  which  THAT provides

 3
      rights for tenants of conversion condominiums or apartment build-

 4
      ings proposed as conversion condominiums, other than those pro-

 5
      vided in this act.
