A bill to amend 1915 PA 294, entitled "An act to promote the public welfare; to create a commission to be known as the agricultural fair commission; to provide for the appointment of such a commission and to fix their terms of office; to prescribe their powers and duties; and to make an appropriation to carry out the provisions of this act," by amending sections 2 and 8 (MCL 285.122 and 285.128). THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 2. Within 30 days after this act shall take effect 2 said commission shall meet in the office of the governor in the 3 capitol of the state when said commission shall organize by 4 taking and filing their respective constitutional oaths of 5 office, in the office of the secretary of state and the election 6 THE COMMISSION SHALL ELECT from their own members of a presi- 7 dent, a vice president, a secretary, and a treasurer. Said THE treasurer may, when so directed by said THE 3 commissioners, bring suit in his OR HER official name in any 4 court of competent jurisdiction for the protection of the inter- 5 ests of the state of Michigan or the rights of said THE 6 commission. Said THE treasurer, before he OR SHE enters upon 7 the duties of said THE office, shall file with the auditor 8 general STATE TREASURER a bond to the people of the state of 9 Michigan in the sum of 50,000 dollars $50,000.00, to be 10 approved by the governor and the attorney general, conditioned 11 for the faithful performance of all his OR HER duties as such 12 THE treasurer, and that he OR SHE will use all necessary and rea- 13 sonable diligence and care in the safekeeping and lawful disposal 14 of all sums of money and all other things appertaining to said 15 THE office which THAT come to his hands OR HER POSSESSION, or 16 to the hands POSSESSION of any person or persons employed by 17 him OR HER, and that said THE treasurer shall upon reasonable 18 notice render a true account in the premises whenever he shall 19 be thereunto OR SHE IS required by any provisions of law and 20 shall deliver over to his OR HER successor in said THE office 21 or to any other person authorized by law to receive the same, all 22 moneys MONEY, books, notes, papers, and all other things 23 belonging to said THE office. Four members of said THE com- 24 mission shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business 25 after it shall be IS duly organized. 26 Sec. 8. All moneys MONEY drawn from the state treasury of 27 the sum appropriated by this act shall be upon the requisition of 02234'01 3 1 the president and treasurer of said THE commission, approved by 2 the governor, on the warrant of the auditor general of the 3 treasury STATE TREASURER, and accompanied by estimates or state- 4 ments of the premiums and expenses to the payment of which the 5 money so drawn is to be applied. All vouchers for expenses shall 6 be made in duplicate on the order of the president, countersigned 7 by the secretary of said THE commission, containing an itemized 8 statement of account and for what purpose the same is paid.
