A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled

"Public health code,"

by amending section 9215 (MCL 333.9215).

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

1 Sec. 9215. (1) A child is exempt from the requirements of

2 this part as to a specific immunization for any period of time as

3 to which a physician certifies that a THE specific immunization

4 is or may be detrimental to the child's health or is not appro-

5 priate FOR THE CHILD.

6 (2) A child is exempt from THE REQUIREMENTS OF this part if

7 a parent, guardian, or person in loco parentis of the child

8 presents a written statement to the administrator of the child's

9 school or operator of the group program to the effect that the

10 requirements of this part cannot be met because of THE PARENT'S,

11 GUARDIAN'S, OR PERSON IN LOCO PARENTIS'S religious convictions or

1 other objection to immunization, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, A

2 SPECIFIC HEALTH ITEM IN THE CHILD'S FAMILY'S MEDICAL HISTORY THAT

3 IS RELATED TO A SPECIFIC REQUIRED IMMUNIZATION OR TO MORE THAN 1

4 REQUIRED IMMUNIZATION.
