A bill to amend 1966 PA 261, entitled
"An act to provide for the apportionment of county boards of com-
missioners; to prescribe the size of the board; to provide for
appeals; to prescribe the manner of election of the members of
the county board of commissioners; to provide for compensation of
members; to prescribe penalties and provide remedies; and to
repeal acts and parts of acts,"
by amending section 11 (MCL 46.411), as amended by 1982 PA 504.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 11. Candidates for the office of commissioner shall be
2 residents and registered voters of the district which they seek
3 to represent and shall remain so to hold their office, if
4 elected. Nominations and elections for commissioners shall be by
5 partisan elections. To obtain the printing of the name of any
6 person as a candidate for nomination for the office of commis-
7 sioner upon the official primary ballot there shall be filed with
8 the county clerk of each county a filing fee of $100.00 or

1 nomination petitions signed by a number of qualified and
2 registered electors residing
within the district ,
equal to not
3 less than 1% nor
more than 4% of the number of votes
cast in the
4 district by such
party for the office of secretary of
state at
5 the last general
election in which a secretary of
state was
6 elected
AS DETERMINED UNDER SECTION 544F OF THE
MICHIGAN ELEC-
7 TION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.544F. The deadline for filing
8 nomination petitions or filing fees shall be the same as candi-
9 dates for state representative. A person who has been convicted
10 of a violation of section
12a(1) of Act No. 370 of
the Public
11 Acts of 1941, being
section 38.412a of the Michigan
Compiled
12 Laws
12A OF 1941 PA 370, MCL 38.412A, shall not be
eligible for
13 election to the office of county commissioner for a period of 20
14 years after conviction.
