ADDENDUM TO SENATE FISCAL AGENCY ANALYSIS OF SB 157 DATED 4-17-03:

HOUSE COMMITTEE ACTION:

         The House Committee on Commerce adopted amendments (incorporated into a substitute bill) that would move the date of the special election on whether to retain the school reform board and the chief executive officer in Detroit to November 4, 2003 (rather than at the August 2003 primary, as the bill originally proposed).  For the full analysis of the bill by the Senate Fiscal Agency dated 4-17-03, see the Michigan Legislature web site.

POSITIONS:

         A representative from Detroit Renaissance testified in opposition to the bill before the House Commerce Committee.  (6-24-03)
