A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4149 AS INTRODUCED 2-5-03

House Bill 4149 would amend the Revised Judicature Act to prohibit an individual from bringing or maintaining a civil suit for injury or death arising from his or her own conduct if that conduct was the basis of his or her conviction of-or guilty plea or "no contest" plea to-any of the following: a crime under state law; a crime under federal law; or a violation of a local ordinance that substantially corresponded to a state crime, as long as the violation was not a municipal civil infraction.
