House Bill 4305

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4305 AS INTRODUCED 2-27-03

Generally speaking, to be eligible for admission to either of the state's two veterans homes (in Grand Rapids and Marquette), an individual must be an honorably discharged member of the U.S. armed services who served for not less than 90 days during World War I, World War II, or any other war or military campaign in which the U.S. armed services took part (Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, et al.), and who is disabled and unable to work. The bill would extend the eligibility for admission to a veterans home to those veterans who have been awarded a campaign medal signifying service in a hostile fire environment, and those veterans who have served at least 20 years in the reserve unit or the National Guard.
