A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 6011 AS REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE
House Bill 6011 would create a new act to designate February 6 as Ronald Wilson Reagan Day in Michigan.
The rationale offered by the bill reads as follows:
The legislature recognizes the lasting accomplishment of America’s fortieth president, Ronald Wilson Reagan, whose enthusiasm, conviction, personal charm, and wit deemed him acknowledgement as one of America’s most popular and influential presidents. The power of his ideas and his ability to cross partisan lines to unite people behind a common agenda focused on economic and political freedom allowed him to impact people’s lives here in Michigan, across the country he loved so much, and around the world. In commemoration of the significant role President Ronald Reagan played in the history of this nation, the legislature declares that February 6 of each year shall be known as “Ronald Wilson Reagan Day.” The legislature encourages each individual in this state to pause on Ronald Wilson Reagan Day and reflect upon the significance of President Ronald Reagan’s leadership and important contributions to the history of the state of Michigan and to the history of this great nation.
