A bill to amend 1971 PA 79, entitled
"Age of majority act of 1971,"
by amending section 2 (MCL 722.52), as amended by 1990 PA 104.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 2. (1) Except as otherwise provided in the state
2 constitution of 1963 and
subsection (2), notwithstanding any
3 other another provision of law to the contrary, a
person who is
4 at least 18 years of age on or after January 1, 1972, is an adult
5 of legal age for all
purposes, whatsoever, and shall have and
6 has the same duties, liabilities, responsibilities, rights, and
7 legal capacity as persons
heretofore a person before January 1,
8 1972 acquired at 21 years of age.
9 (2) A court may order support payments for a person 18 years
10 of age or older as provided in 1 or more of the following:
11 (a) Chapter 84 of
the revised statutes of 1846, being

3 (b) The child custody
act of 1970, Act No. 91 of the Public

11 1956, being sections

16 Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect
17 January 1, 2005.
18 Enacting section 2. This amendatory act does not take
19 effect unless Senate Bill No. ________ or House Bill No. 5949
20 (request no. 03652'03) of the 92nd Legislature is enacted into
21 law.
