A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled
"The Michigan penal code,"
by amending sections 442 and 447 (MCL 750.442 and 750.447).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 442. (1)
Participating in prize fight--Any Subject
2 to section 447, a person
who shall be is a party to, or engage
3 in engages in, or aids and abets in the conduct of
a prize fight
4 in this state , or
who shall aid or abet therein, shall be is
5 guilty of a felony.
6 (2) Subject to section 447, a person who is a party to or
7 engages in a tough man contest in this state is guilty of a
8 felony.
9 (3) As used in this chapter:
10 (a) "Prize fight" means any boxing, sparring, or wrestling
11 matches, contests, or exhibitions not allowed, conducted, held,
1 or given pursuant to article 8 of the occupational code, 1980 PA
2 299, MCL 339.801 to 339.814.
3 (b) "Tough man contest" means an unarmed combat elimination
4 contest between any 2 or more individuals.
5 (c) "Unarmed combat" means any form of competition in which a
6 blow is usually struck that may reasonably be expected to inflict
7 injury.
8 Sec. 447. Inapplicability
of chapter--The provisions of
9 this This chapter shall does not
apply to any boxing,
10 sparring, or wrestling matches, contests, or exhibitions allowed,
11 conducted, held,
or given pursuant to the provisions of Act
12 No. 328 of the Public
Acts of 1919, as amended, being sections
13 8839 to 8859,
inclusive, of the Compiled Laws of 1929, and acts
14 amendatory thereof article 8 of the occupational code, 1980 PA
15 299, MCL 339.801 to 339.814.
16 Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take
17 effect unless Senate Bill No. _____ or House Bill No. 4954
18 (request no. 04273'03) of the 92nd Legislature is enacted into
19 law.
