A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled
"Michigan vehicle code,"
by amending section 811f (MCL 257.811f), as added by 2000 PA 77.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 811f. (1) The secretary of state may, upon
2 application, issue 1 fund-raising registration plate instead of a
3 standard registration
plate to a person for use on a passenger
4 motor vehicle. or
motor home or a pickup truck or van used
5 exclusively to
transport personal possessions or family members
6 for nonbusiness
purposes.
7 (2) A person who
wants to purchase a Michigan university or
8 state-sponsored
fund-raising registration plate for use on a
9 vehicle under this act
shall may apply to the
secretary of state
10 for a fund-raising registration plate pursuant to the procedures
11 prescribed in section 217. An application for an original
1 fund-raising registration plate shall be accompanied by a $25.00
2 fund-raising donation,
payment of the regular vehicle
3 registration tax provided
for under this act required under
4 section 801, and a $10.00 service fee. An application for
5 renewal of a fund-raising registration plate shall be accompanied
6 by payment of the regular
vehicle registration tax provided
7 for under this act required under section 801 and a $10.00
8 fund-raising donation. Application for a replacement
9 fund-raising registration plate shall be accompanied by payment
10 of only the fee prescribed under section 804.
11 (3) The secretary of state may issue a personalized
12 fund-raising registration plate upon application and the payment
13 of the personalized registration plate fee prescribed under
14 section 803b in addition to the fees and donations prescribed
15 under subsection (2) and
the regular vehicle registration tax
16 provided for under
this act required under section
801.
17 (4) A disabled person who makes application for a
18 fund-raising registration plate under this section and who makes
19 payment of the required service fees shall be issued, as
20 determined by the secretary of state, a disabled person's tab as
21 provided in section 803f for his or her fund-raising registration
22 plate or a disabled person's fund-raising registration plate.
23 The secretary of state shall require the same proof that the
24 applicant is a disabled person as is required for issuance of a
25 permanent windshield placard under section 675.
26 (5) A fund-raising registration plate shall expire pursuant
27 to section 226. The secretary of state may issue a tab or tabs
1 designating the month and year of expiration for an original or
2 renewal fund-raising registration plate.
3 (6) The secretary of state may issue a temporary registration
4 permit to a person who submits an application and the proper fees
5 and donation for a fund-raising registration plate, if the
6 applicant's current vehicle registration will expire before his
7 or her receipt of a fund-raising registration plate. The
8 temporary registration shall expire upon the applicant's receipt
9 of a fund-raising registration plate or upon the expiration of 60
10 days after the date of issuance, whichever occurs first. The
11 temporary permit shall be issued without a separate fee.
12 (7) As used in this section, "fund-raising registration
13 plate" means a registration plate developed under section 811e.
