A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled
"Michigan election law,"
(MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 561b.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 561b. In any primary or general election, whenever any
2 candidate for public office has the same given name and surname
3 as another candidate for public office, a clarifying designation
4 shall be printed on the ballot. The clarifying designation shall
5 consist of the occupation, date of birth, and residence of each
6 candidate on the ballot with the same given name and surname.
7 The term "occupation" includes a currently held political office,
8 even though the currently held political office is not the
9 candidate's principal occupation, but does not include reference
10 to a previous position or occupation.
