A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5004 AS INTRODUCED 6-23-05

The bill would amend Public Act 261 of 1965, which deals with county and regional park commissions, to specify that funds received by a county to support the operation of a county park system would be apportioned 50 percent on projects in the city, village, or township where it was raised and 50 percent for the general operation of the entire county park system.  This would apply only in a charter county with a population of 1.5 million or more (Wayne County).

The apportionment would apply to funds received from fees, charges, gifts, or taxes authorized by a vote of qualified electors.

MCL 46.355a

FISCAL IMPACT:

The bill would have no fiscal impact on the state.  It would reallocate revenue within a county park system with no impact on total revenue.
