A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5787 (PROPOSED SUBSTITUTE H-2)
The bill specifies that the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs shall use funds to purchase Oregon Aero BLSS (Ballistic Lining and Suspension System) upgrade kits. The kits shall be approved for use in Kevlar by the US Marine Corps System Command. The kits shall be furnished to active duty guardsman and active duty military personnel in units originated in Michigan deployed or soon to be deployed to a combat zone.
FISCAL IMPACT:
HB 5787 adds $275,000 GF/GP in supplemental funds to the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs FY2006-2007 budget for the purposes stated in the summary above. Other than the fiscal impact to the department, there will be no other fiscal impact to the state or to local governments.
