A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled
"Michigan vehicle code,"
(MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 803s.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 803s. (1) The secretary of state shall design a special
registration plate that is red in color with contrasting numbers
and letters with an inscription that says "firefighter" and a plate
that is pure primary blue in color with contrasting numbers and
letters with an inscription that says "EMS". The word "Michigan"
shall appear on the special registration plate.
(2) An individual who is a firefighter and an individual who
is a Michigan licensed EMS provider may apply to the secretary of
state for the appropriate special registration plate developed
under this section.
(3) Application for a special registration plate under this
section shall be on a form prescribed by the secretary of state
together with proof, satisfactory to the secretary of state, that
the applicant is a firefighter or a Michigan licensed EMS provider,
as appropriate.
(4) Upon receipt of a properly completed application and
payment of the regular registration tax and a $10.00 service fee,
the secretary of state shall issue the appropriate special
registration plate.
(5) A renewal tab shall be issued upon payment of the regular
registration tax and sufficient proof that the individual is still
a firefighter or a Michigan licensed EMS provider. A service fee
shall not be collected for a renewal tab.
(6) As used in this section, "Michigan licensed EMS provider"
means an individual licensed by the department of consumer and
industry services to provide emergency medical care.
