HOUSE BILL No. 5521

 

December 14, 2005, Introduced by Reps. Gosselin, Drolet, Marleau, Hoogendyk, Baxter, Shaffer, Steil, Garfield, Acciavatti, Mortimer, Sheen, Stahl, Pastor and Palmer and referred to the Committee on Government Operations.

 

     A bill to amend 1971 PA 140, entitled

 

"Glenn Steil state revenue sharing act of 1971,"

 

(MCL 141.901 to 141.921) by adding section 20a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 20a. (1) If a city, village, township, or county fails to

 

provide a report that conforms to the requirements of this section,

 

the payments required under this act may be withheld until the

 

report is made available as required under this section.

 

     (2) A city, village, township, or county shall make a record

 

of information concerning each motor vehicle that it owns or leases

 

available to the public by transmitting the information to the

 

department of management and budget for posting on a website that

 

the department maintains for that purpose. The information in the

 


record shall include all of the following that apply:

 

     (a) The purchase date or initial lease date and duration of

 

the lease.

 

     (b) If a motor vehicle is sold, the date of sale.

 

     (c) The year, make, and model of the motor vehicle.

 

     (d) The department or agency and supervisor with charge of the

 

motor vehicle.

 

     (e) The name of any individual who is authorized to use the

 

motor vehicle.

 

     (f) The mileage traveled by the motor vehicle during the

 

immediately preceding fiscal year or portion of the fiscal year

 

during which the motor vehicle was owned or under lease.

 

     (g) The total mileage on the motor vehicle.

 

     (3) A city, village, township, or county shall transmit

 

information required under this section to the department of

 

management and budget by November 1 of each year.

 

     (4) As used in this section, "motor vehicle" means a self-

 

propelled vehicle registered for use on public highways.
