SENATE BILL No. 882

 

 

November 9, 2005, Introduced by Senators PATTERSON, JACOBS, GARCIA, JELINEK, KUIPERS, CROPSEY, BIRKHOLZ and TOY and referred to the Committee on Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs.

 

 

 

     A bill to designate the use of state land that is set aside to

 

memorialize veterans; to prohibit certain acts; and to prescribe

 

penalties.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as "the

 

veterans memorial property act".

 

     Sec. 2. (1) The veterans memorial park and any other property

 

that is owned by this state and that is dedicated to memorializing

 

veterans shall be used solely for the purpose of honoring and

 

memorializing veterans of this state.

 

     (2) The boundaries of property that is owned by the state and

 

that is dedicated to memorializing veterans shall not be

 

encroached.

 

     (3) The property that is owned by the state and that is

 

dedicated to memorializing veterans shall not be desecrated.

 


     Sec. 3. A person who violates this act is responsible for a

 

state civil infraction and may be ordered to pay a civil fine of

 

not more than $500.00.
