A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled
"Public health code,"
by amending section 2841 (MCL 333.2841).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 2841. (1) Death registration is required for each
individual who dies in this state. If the place of death is
unknown, but the body is found in this state, the death
registration shall show this fact and shall be completed and filed
in accordance with this section and section 2842. The place where
the body is found shall be shown as the place of death.
(2) Except as otherwise provided under this part, an
individual who discovers a dead body or evidence of the death of
another person without reason to believe the death has been
reported to a law enforcement agency shall immediately inform a law
enforcement agency of the discovery. An individual who violates
this subsection is guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment
for not more than 3 years or a fine of not more than $3,000.00, or
both.
