House Bill 4245 (Substitute S-1 as reported by the Committee of the Whole)

CONTENT

 

The bill would amend the Building Officials and Inspectors Registration Act to do the following with respect to registration as a building official, plan reviewer, or inspector:

 

 --    Provide that employment by an enforcing agency would not be a requirement for registration or provisional registration.

 --    Delete a requirement that an individual seeking provisional registration furnish evidence of employment by a governmental subdivision.

 --    Eliminate a requirement that an individual renew his or her registration at least every three years coincidentally with the code change cycle in the jurisdiction in which he or she enforces a code, and instead require renewal by September 17 of every third year, beginning in 2015.

("Enforcing agency" means the governmental agency that is responsible for administration and enforcement of the construction code within a governmental subdivision.)

 

The bill would take effect 90 days after it was enacted.
