A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled

"The insurance code of 1956,"

(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3406v.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 3406v. (1) An insurer that delivers, issues for delivery, or renews in this state a health insurance policy shall provide coverage for mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment, at a level of benefits that is no less favorable than the level provided for physical illness.

(2) Benefits provided under subsection (1) must meet the requirements of 42 USC 300gg-26 and the regulations promulgated under that section.
