A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled
"The insurance code of 1956,"
(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3406w.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 3406w. (1) An insurer that
delivers, issues for delivery, or renews in this state a health insurance
policy shall provide coverage for all of the following:
(a)
Ambulatory patient services.
(b)
Emergency services.
(c)
Hospitalization.
(d)
Pregnancy, maternity, and newborn care.
(e)
Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health
treatment.
(f)
Prescription drugs.
(g)
Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices.
(h)
Laboratory services.
(i)
Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management, including, but
not limited to, all of the following:
(i) Evidence-based items or services
that have in effect a rating of "A" or "B" in the current
recommendations of the United States Preventive Services Task Force.
(ii) Immunizations that have in effect a
recommendation from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with respect to the individual
involved.
(iii) With respect to infants, children,
and adolescents, evidence-informed preventive care and screenings provided for
in the comprehensive guidelines supported by the Health Resources and Services
Administration.
(iv) With respect to women, additional
preventive care and screenings not described in subparagraph (i) as provided for in comprehensive
guidelines supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration.
(j)
Pediatric services, including oral and vision care.
(2)
Benefits provided under subsection (1) are subject to all requirements
applicable to those benefits under this chapter.
(3) This section does not limit the requirements to provide additional benefits under this chapter.
