A bill to amend 2018 PA 337, entitled

"Improved workforce opportunity wage act,"

(MCL 408.931 to 408.945) by adding section 4e.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 4e. (1) The minimum hourly wage rate of a care facility employee is 1.5/2,080 of the last published federal poverty line for a family of 3 individuals.

(2) As used in this section:

(a) "Care facility" means any of the following that receive any state or federal funding:

(i) A home or facility that provides foster care to individuals 18 years of age or older.

(ii) A home for the aged licensed under part 213 of the public health code, 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.21301 to 333.21335.

(iii) A nursing home licensed under part 217 of the public health code, 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.21701 to 333.21799e.

(b) "Care facility employee" means an employee of a care facility who provides direct care to the patients or residents of the care facility.

(c) "Federal poverty line" means the poverty line as revised by the Secretary of the United States Department of Health and Human Services under 42 USC 9902.
