A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

"The revised school code,"

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1245.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 1245. (1) A school board that contracts or agrees with a law enforcement agency for the assignment of 1 or more law enforcement officers employed by the law enforcement agency to regularly and continuously work in the school district may contractually assume any liability of the law enforcement agency for property damage or personal injury caused by the law enforcement officers.

(2) This section and any contractual assumption of liability under this section does not create or expand any liability of, or abrogate or limit any immunity or protection from liability available to, the school board, school district, or law enforcement agency under the law of this state, including, but not limited to, 1964 PA 170, MCL 691.1401 to 691.1419.

(3) As used in this section, "law enforcement agency" and "law enforcement officer" mean those terms as defined in section 2 of the Michigan commission on law enforcement standards act, 1965 PA 203, MCL 28.602.
